Nancy Wilson, a jazz singer and three-time Grammy Award winner was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on 20 February 1937 to Olden Wilson an ironworker who had been employed for a considerable period as housekeeper. Nancy was the youngest among six children. Nancy was inspired by her father's taste in music and the records that were played in her house. When she was just four, Nancy knew she would be a performer. She was able to develop her talents through singing in the choir of her church. In high school her appearances with Skyline Melodies. Cannonball Adderley advised that she should move into New York to further her professional career. She moved into The Big Town at the end of the year 1959. Her agent heard her speak in The Blue Morocco Night Club, Boston Road, The Bronx and she then signed her contract. Within one month after arriving at New York City.
