Jazz performer Nancy Wilson a three-time Grammy Award-winner was born on February 20 1937 in the city of Chillicothe, Ohio. Her parents were ironworker Olden Wilson and the former Lillian Ryan who worked as a domestic servant. Nancy Wilson was only born child at the age of 6. Nancy was a child who listened to her dad's records and his enthusiasm for music. As young as four years old, she knew she would be a singer. Within a month she got an offer to sing at The Blue Morocco Night Club situated on Boston Road in The Bronx where Adderley's agent heard her voice and agreed to sign her. He obtained a contract for with Capitol records in 1960 and she made her debut that year by releasing the single. Guess who? Capitol released five Nancy Wilson albums within two years. The first was focused on R&B and then, with Adderley's influence, she started to take on jazz. Nancy Wilson, Cannonball Adderley and their 1962 collaboration led her to the top of the charts. She had her breakthrough hit Tell Me the Truth by 1963. The singer was offered a position in New York's Coconut Grove nightclub, America's premier nightclub.
