Ayanna Pressley is an advocate, politician, activist and survivor. Ayanna Pressley was elected on November 6, 2018, to serve as the representative of Massachusetts seventh Congressional District at the U.S. House of Representatives. It is the first time a female of color to have been elected from Massachusetts. Ayanna believes the voices of the people who are most in pain are those that ought to influence policies. Ayanna was born in Cincinnati and grew up within Chicago as the only child of a single mother and father with a criminal background. Her mother Sandra Pressley was a tenants rights advocate who taught her the importance of taking part in civic activities.
